SUMMER ACTING CAMP! THE WORKSHOP NURTURES ASPIRING PERFORMERS AND ARTISTS IN A HIGHLY SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT. JOIN TODAY.
Join us for a thrilling three-weeks! Attendees will learn the basics of performing arts, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. All skill levels welcome! Every day is an adventure exploring theater arts, games, acting techniques, voice and movement, improvisation, set/costume design and basic filmmaking techniques. The Workshop nurtures aspiring performers and artists in a highly supportive environment and will conclude with a special theatrical performance for family and friends. Space is limited and campers will begin their training with an informal audition via phone/zoom, prior to the beginning of camp!

Gaming Nights at The Performers Academy
We are excited to host our 2nd event in our monthly series called Tech Connect: Bridging the Gap through Esports and Technology.
These social gaming and networking events are for students aged 12 to 20 so please bring them to The Performers Academy in #Jacksonville on Saturday, Oct 5th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
We'll have games setup to play on Gaming PCs and Laptops, Nintendo Switch and Virtual Reality systems. Parents, we'll have some guitar hero on the Wii and other games for you as well.
We'd like to recognize and thank to Rebecca with Club Challenge of Orange Park for providing snacks and drinks for the gamers during last month's event. They enjoyed it so much, I didn't have time to take a photo of it all before it was gone!
Also, Florida State College at Jacksonville Computer Networking Instructor Cheryl Schmidt was on hand to showcase some IP Phones, Routers and Switches. And she even brought some cool swag to give away.
Cheryl and FSCJ will be back again next week and she is bringing out some Raspberry Pi devices to play around with.
And speaking of Pi, Leaderboard Arcade will be providing another type of Pi for the kids.....Pizza Pies! It's so good.
These events are made possible in part through community grants and support from United Way of Northeast Florida City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government and Kids Hope Alliance.

The Opportunity Project is a 3-week work-readiness program that will support young people across Duval County in understanding and maximizing their opportunities after school and help them to see and achieve their potential after High School.
Working in Partnership with The Performers Academy and Family Support Services, the program will give young people aged 17-23 a range of life and technical skills which will increase their aspirations, help them better understand employment opportunities and the benefits of completing high school as well as build their resilience and self-confidence.

Created, hosted and run by The Performers Academy, talented artists lead the teens in an exploration of their experiences. The students learn to express themselves through the arts and share their stories with the community in a final performance at the end of the program.
Just Like Me Cultural Arts and Education Experience was developed by TPA in 2012 and has been recognized as an Exemplary Program by the Center for the Study of Social Policy under their Youth Thrive initiative. This Camp also received recognition from Mental Health of America as a featured program. Just Like Me has transformed the lives of both foster children and our artistic instructors every summer for the past 11 years. 100% of our Just Like Me Cultural Arts Experience attendees are in foster care and categorized as “at risk youth.”
